FAQ
Who is the CFS CO-LIVING for?
Our vision of a healing community-based living environment is intended for people suffering from burnout, exhaustion, chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME), central sensitization syndromes (CSS), anxiety, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), depression, and similar conditions. Individuals with diagnoses such as ALS and MS may also benefit from a peaceful residence close to nature, where they can engage in hands-on activities and connect with others facing daily challenges. Our goal is to create a home for people recovering from burnout, where healing happens slowly and without external pressure.
How much does the accommodation cost?
The cost of accommodation typically ranges between 400€ and 700€ per month. Some locations offer the option of adding prepared meals for an additional monthly fee. If you are on sick leave and experiencing financial difficulties, we may be able to subsidize the rent in certain cases. Our priority is to ensure that everyone in need has the opportunity to heal in a peaceful environment.
Can I join the CFS CO-LIVING through the healthcare system?
We are not affiliated with the healthcare system or social insurance services. We operate as a private organization that connects individuals suffering from burnout or similar conditions with quiet, nature-based farms and homes that we have personally found suitable for recovery.
Who will I live with?
You will live with other individuals facing similar challenges. We listen to and try to accommodate requests regarding co-residents whenever possible. We believe that relatively small groups are best for fostering a sense of community and support ideally 3 to 5 people. However, in some cases, as few as 2 or as many as 7 individuals may live together if there is a clear preference for this arrangement.
Where is the accommodation located?
The farms and retreat homes we collaborate with are currently located in the southern part of Portugal, mostly in rural areas or on the outskirts of small towns. We strive to find farms and homes in quiet, peaceful locations close to nature, as being in a tranquil natural environment has been proven to be beneficial for stress-related conditions.
Currently, there are no specialized care homes for burnout, CFS, ME, or similar conditions in Portugal. This makes our burnout recovery housing the first and likely the only option for individuals who need a healing environment in the countryside.
